Actor Gong Yoo is set to return to the silver screen this year with three new flicks, breaking a three-year-hiatus since box-office hit “The Suspect” (2013).

Gong will star in a new romantic film “A Man and a Woman,” opposite Cannes darling Jeon Do-yeon. The film tells a tale of forbidden love between Ki-hong, played by Gong, and Sang-min, played by Jeon. The film is set to open in theaters in the first half of this year.

Gong will star in an action flick “Busan Bound,” by renowned director Yeon Sang-ho, who is known for “The King of Pigs” and “The Fake.” Against the backdrop of a strange virus spreading rapidly in Korea, Suk-woo, played by Gong, takes a KTX train bound for Busan and fights to survive. The film will open in theaters this year, but the exact date is yet to be confirmed.
In the second half of 2016, star-studded flick “Secret Agent,” will be released in theaters. Directed by hit filmmaker Kim Ji-woon (“The Good, the Bad, the Weird,” “A Bittersweet Life”), the film, set during the Japanese colonial era, centers on Korean independence fighters and the Japanese military, who are pursuing them. Song Kang-ho and Han Ji-min are among the other cast members.
